RICHLAND, WA – Today, Let’s Go Washington (LGW) rolled back the cost of gas to the national average to highlight the importance of voting yes on I-2117 this November. The Jacksons Shell in Richland saw a continuous stream of drivers taking advantage of the cheaper costs and employees attested that it was the busiest they had seen the station during the morning block.

The Climate Commitment Act (CCA) has increased the cost of energy, groceries, deliveries, and most obviously, gasoline. With an additional $0.30-$0.50 tacked onto every gallon of gas, voters are recognizing the need to repeal the CCA immediately.

Governor Inslee promised voters that the price of gas would increase by “pennies” or that it wouldn’t increase at all; that has not been the case for Washingtonians. Profits from the Governor’s climate program have done nothing to curb carbon emissions and yet, Washingtonians are still forced to pay some of the highest costs in the nation.

Inslee’s hypocrisy knows no bounds as he announced that he would be returning a mere fraction of the money taxed from residents in the form of a rebate check.

Let’s Go Washington Founder, Brian Heywood, issued the following statement:

“This morning, in Richland, we rolled back the cost of gas to the national average to show people what is at stake if I-2117 doesn’t pass this November and bureaucrats continue increasing prices on everyday necessities. This afternoon, Governor Inslee will be handing out taxpayer dollars disguised as “rebates” to bribe people into keeping the CCA operational even though it’s done nothing to lower carbon emissions. We will continue to host gas station events across the state to highlight Jay Inslee’s hypocritical ‘take a lot, give a little’ legacy enhancement strategy. Inslee has created a program where taxes take thousands out of voter’s paychecks, then a couple hundred dollars are offered back to them to try to make up for it. Government greed is at an all time high and we’ve had enough of the most regressive tax in state history. Vote yes, pay less this November.”

Let’s Go Washington is rolling out a slate of educational events to emphasize the importance of passing all four initiatives this November. The team will also continue to cut costs at gas stations across the state to make sure that voters know to “Vote Yes, Pay Less.”
