REDMOND, WA – This month, Let’s Go WA (LGW) will begin collecting signatures on two initiatives to the Legislature to undo the dangerous and tone-deaf ideology put in motion in last year’s session. See summaries of the two initiatives below:

IL26-001: Strengthening Communications Between Parents and Schools

Let’s Go WA founder, Brian Heywood, issued the following statement about the IL26-001:

“Let’s Go Washington is one of the only non-partisan organizations willing to stand up to the majority party and their buffoonery. We have no fear; we are not tied to a party or a certain ideology: the only thing we are committed to is the people of Washington State. Last year, hundreds of thousands of voters sent I-2081 to the legislature with a clear message that they don’t want schools to keep secrets from parents. This year, the legislature gutted that law and stripped the right of parents to be informed. We don’t co-parent with the government. No government employee can care about or love your child like you do. With decreasing enrollment, declining test scores, and failing schools, why don’t school administrators and Chris Reykdal focus on teaching instead of keeping secrets from parents?”

IL26-638: Protecting Fairness in Girls’ Sports

Heywood issued the following statement about the IL26-638:

“Since 1972, promoting fairness in girls’ sports has been a national agenda item. So, it’s shocking to see Chris Reykdal and legislators in Olympia pursue policies that would annihilate fair competition in girls’ sports and deprive girls of opportunities for athletic achievement and advancement. By an overwhelming majority, Washingtonians, alongside athletes, coaches, and parents, believe that biological males do not belong in girls’ sports. This is an issue of creating fair play for all student athletes. Young women deserve every opportunity to be successful in their athletic endeavors. We are appalled that the state has adopted an ideology that says all their hard work is meaningless. This is not a case-by-case issue: if you believe that young women should be rewarded for their dedication to their sport, we invite you to take a stand and sign your name next to ours.”

LGW will rely on the support of small dollar donations and volunteers who believe in protecting children and families from the agendas of politicians more interested in making history than in making decisions that uplift Washingtonians.
